For the past several years, we have dedicated each of our Student/Faculty Recitals to a different organization which we felt benefited our community through the Arts. These recitals provided valuable performing experience and listening opportunities to our students, while showing them how music may be used to bring people together to help our community. This year, the musicians of In The Pocket NYC want to go bigger! For 2017, we chose ONE organization to honor with our musical and financial support and get our students involved over a longer period of time. Through various musical events and projects, In The Pocket NYC will provide a platform to raise money and awareness for this chosen organization.
Our 2017 Dedicated concert Season is dedicated to
Musicians Without Borders
Musicians without Borders uses the power of music to bridge divides, connect communities, and heal the wounds of war.
Their long-term commitment allows our participants the time to develop skills and talents, process grief and loss, and build bridges of reconciliation in societies divided by recent or ongoing conflict. Their professional trainers are specialized in running community music projects with people dealing with trauma, fear and isolation as a result of war and conflict.
